Fashion and Style – How many times have we looked at old pictures of ourselves and cringed at the fit of our clothings or what we wore because that was in vogue. Times have changed and a lot of us have evolved, some of us have discovered our style and some of us are still searching. Here are a few tips to guide to find or improve your style.
Start with what you have
I know we have all told ourselves that famous lie. “ I have nothing to wear” when in reality your closet is full and chaotic. You will be amazed at what you will find in there if only you will take time out to search, organise, and put pieces together. You don’t need to splurge, start small, play with fits and forms, use accessories to complete or elevate your style. All you need to improve your style, you might already have them.
Understand the why
This is a question you want to ask yourself and it has to be personal because the answer shapes your style. Do you want to improve yourself to appeal to a certain audience for example work, school, or maybe your body changed, you might have gained weight or lost weight and as a result you need to find a style that best suits you or you simply want to improve your style to feel better. Understanding the why will allow you to eliminate the things you do not need and making it a bit easier to find something that fit fits the why.
Experiment more than imitate
In the beginning its all an idea. You know you want to change or improve your style and you think you know what you like but in reality unless you play around and experiment you will not know what you like. So don’t be scared. Experiment rather than imitate. You are allowed to take inspirations do not focus on imitating. You will know what you like when the fit is right.
Ask for advice
Even though your style is your style and it’s personal, sometimes other people have fresh eyes and can stir you in the right direction. Ask the people around you if what you are wearing looks good. Remember they are not telling you what to wear they are only giving you their perspective so open up to those advice. Go shopping with your friends it is fun. You might spend eternity in there but aside yourself looking at yourself in the mirror and contemplating whether what you are fitting is a good fit, that friend can chip in a few things. They might see somethings you do not see.
Evolve
What you wore 10 years ago is not what you wear now or may be not. The point of the matter is that we grow and we learn, so learn and grow in your style not the trend. Do not stick to only what you know but do not also fall a victim to whats in vogue now. I hope this was helpful to start you off on your journey to finding or improving your style.
